70--70 -- Card Scanning System

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the Simplified Acquisitions procedures in FAR 13 and the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation 672-425-05 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) and is due by 4:00 P.M. (Eastern Standard Time) on 28 September 2005. The RFQ is being solicited to small business only. NAICS code for this solicitation is 334119 with a size standard 500 employees. The purchase order will be awarded using simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13 as a firm fixed price purchase order. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, 10 Calle Casia, San Juan, PR 00921 has a requirement to purchase a card scanning system to facilitate and maximize productivity for the identification of health insurance cards so that the reimbursement process can be more effective and efficient. The scanner will be plugged into the computers; therefore scanner software program shall be compatible with windows 2000 and/or any other windows version. Equipment shall be able to scan paper cards, laminated cards, cards with raised lettering, etc. Resulting image must be high quality with the option to increase and/or reduce image and with the option for Color settings (i.e. black& white, grey scale, color, true color, etc.) Scanner software shall have the capacity to interface/integrate with VA software CPRS and VISTA system and with Quadramed. Item #1:100 card scanner system. A response to requirements listed above shall be submitted on contractor�s letterhead or formal quotation form and must meet all requirement listed herein. Faxed quotation will be accepted at (787) 781-8721. Vendors are responsible to make sure that faxed quotation has been received.
