AI Contract Overview
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking to replace its existing Next-Generation Sequencing equipment at the Royal University Hospital Lab in Saskatoon through a five-year contract with an option to extend for two additional one-year terms. The authority has preliminarily identified Illumina Inc. as the preferred vendor but is legally required to open the opportunity for other suppliers to demonstrate their capability to meet the technical and operational requirements. Any interested party must submit a statement of capabilities by August 31, 2026, at 2 PM Saskatchewan Time, outlining how they can fulfill the needs for the equipment, associated services, and consumables. Submissions must be directed to Jogesh Dhir at LifeLabs in Toronto and must clearly address all advertised specifications. The SHA will assess all received statements and, if it finds qualified alternatives, will initiate a formal competitive process which could involve a public or limited Request for Proposal. The evaluation will not consider minimum essential requirements, and no contract will be awarded until this review process is completed and all eligible options are fairly evaluated.
