The Department of Defense Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) seeks Occupational Therapy (OT) services to support its Special Education Program at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, for the 2012-2013 school year, with options for extension in future school years. The contract involves providing pediatric OT services aligned with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals to students with disabilities, in accordance with the requirements outlined under DoD Instruction 1342.12. Services will typically be provided one day per week between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., totaling approximately 8 hours spread over 4 weeks, though the exact schedule depends on student needs. The contractor must be a certified occupational therapist with pediatric experience, capable of delivering flexible services and participating in meetings, assessments, evaluations, report writing, and consultative support for staff, parents, and students. The role emphasizes linking therapy directly to educational requirements rather than medical needs, ensuring compliance with the Case Study Committee's determinations regarding student eligibility. The contractor will also be responsible for parent training and assembling necessary specialized equipment or accommodations. Given the fluctuating student enrollment, service hours may vary, and there could be intervals without active service requirements. Interested parties are instructed to submit candidate resumes and availability information to the designated Department of Defense contact via email, with all inquiries required in writing. The anticipated period of performance begins upon award and may extend through each applicable school year according to the official academic calendar.
