Background and Purpose McMaster University invites qualified bidders to submit responses for the supply of Confocal Microscope with Single Photon Counting Capacity that can perform dual-colour quantitative imaging and time-resolved fluorescence experiments including fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposals. Bidders must quote the entire bid. Partial bids will not be accepted. Scope/Objective This instrument will be used for research in a biophysics laboratory in the Department of Physics & Astronomy (Arthur Bourns Building, Room 330). It will be primarily used by graduate students and research assistants in this laboratory for the imaging of living systems (cells and small organisms) and the study of fluorescently labelled biomolecules. This instrument will also be made available to other groups on campus for use on an occasional basis, and might therefore be used for a wide range of applications. The instrument will be housed in an optical room on an existing dedicated optical table. This purchase is to be financed in part by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), whose mandate is to strengthen the capacity of Canadian universities, colleges, research hospitals, and non-profit research institutions to carry out world-class research and technology development that benefits Canadians (www.innovation.ca). Term: One-time purchase of a Single Photon Counting Confocal Microscope with a warranty and service period of up to five (5) years. Bidding and Documents are available on http://www.merx.com. Fees may apply; See https://www.merx.com/public/pricing for more information.
