AI Contract Overview
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is conducting market research to identify qualified manufacturing and supply sources for a specific shipping and storage part (NSN: 8145-01-131-3200, Part Number: 145G0033-1) that supports the CHINOOK weapon system. This effort falls under NAICS code 332439 and targets businesses, including small and disadvantaged enterprises, though no solicitation or contract award is currently being issued. The part cannot be sourced from multiple providers due to proprietary data rights owned outside the government, making reverse engineering uneconomical. Consequently, this procurement is treated as a sole-source acquisition under a specific federal acquisition regulation. Interested firms are encouraged to register and seek approval to become qualified sources for potential future solicitations by visiting the Army’s AvMC technical data management website. Contractors must be capable of fulfilling all requirements and responsibilities related to producing the item, including engineering services for qualification, supply chain and logistics management, material forecasting, and handling obsolescence. The government emphasizes that this sources sought synopsis is for informational and planning purposes only, without any commitment to award a contract or obligation to respond to submissions. Responses are voluntary, and no funds will be provided for preparing submissions. The point of contact for inquiries is Justin Taylor at the DLA Aviation office in Huntsville, Alabama.
