The Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT) Conference

The FDA plans to award a sole-source purchase order to the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT) to register 81 FDA staff members for the 2026 SRNT Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, held from March 4 to March 7, 2026. This contract is being awarded without competition under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) because SRNT is deemed the only source capable of meeting the requirement. The meeting serves as a key platform where tobacco and nicotine researchers, scientists, and tobacco control practitioners convene to exchange cutting-edge scientific and policy information. Participation will enable FDA staff to engage with external researchers and stakeholders, providing critical insights that support various regulatory, research, and enforcement activities related to tobacco and nicotine products. Notably, staff attendance is reduced by 25% compared to the previous year's meeting. While this is a sole-source notice of intent and not a solicitation, parties interested in providing similar services may submit capability statements for possible future consideration by February 21, 2026. The government clarifies that it retains discretion in deciding whether to compete this requirement based on any responses and will not be responsible for incurred costs related to such submissions.
