Validation Center for Precision Medicine with AI: Integrating Imaging with Multimodal Data (PRIMED-AI) (U54 Clinical Trials Not Allowed)

The National Institutes of Health, under the Department of Health and Human Services, is seeking applications to establish a Validation Center for the Precision Medicine with AI: Integrating Imaging with Multimodal Data (PRIMED-AI) Program. This center will serve as a centralized hub dedicated to the rigorous evaluation, verification, and characterization of AI-driven clinical decision support tools developed by the PRIMED-AI Consortium. These tools integrate clinical imaging with diverse multimodal health data to enable personalized, data-driven care across a broad spectrum of conditions. The Validation Center’s core mission is to ensure the reliability, reproducibility, and generalizability of these tools through comprehensive assessments of performance, interoperability, and uncertainty quantification, addressing critical barriers to clinical adoption. The center will systematically validate AI-based tools emerging from multiple PRIMED-AI initiatives, including those from the Playbook, Data-to-Model Academic-Industrial Partnerships, and Model-to-Clinic projects. It will not conduct clinical trials but will focus on technical and operational validation to support scalable deployment in real-world clinical environments.
