Contractor relationships are broad and technically diverse, encompassing leading aerospace primes, specialized systems integrators, and niche technology developers with expertise in space-qualified hardware, radiation-hardened electronics, and mission operations software. The contact collaborates with vendors capable of delivering high-reliability systems under stringent environmental and performance requirements, often working with firms that have prior experience on NASA’s flagship missions such as Mars rovers and space telescopes. Engagement is typically performance-based, with emphasis on technical innovation, systems integration capability, and proven track records in spaceflight environments.
