Classified bids
Classified bid openings are strictly limited to cleared individuals, and no public record of bids or prices is permitted to protect sensitive information.
Overview
FAR 14.402-2 addresses the procedures for handling bid openings in classified acquisitions. Unlike standard bid openings, the general public is not permitted to attend when classified information is involved. Only bidders or their representatives with the appropriate security clearance may attend and record the results. Additionally, the contracting officer may provide access to the bids at a later time to properly cleared representatives of bidders. Importantly, no public record is to be made of the bids or bid prices for classified invitations for bids, ensuring the protection of sensitive information.
