What does DNR750660 District 4-Wildlife Management DNRMOG do?

The DNR750660 District 4-Wildlife Management DNRMOG is tasked with supporting wildlife habitat infrastructure and field operations critical to Ohio’s conservation and wildlife management objectives. Its core mission centers on constructing and maintaining specialized facilities that enable safe, efficient handling and monitoring of native and managed wildlife populations, particularly large game species such as bison. Strategic priorities include enhancing field infrastructure for wildlife research, public safety, and ecological stewardship, with a focus on durable, site-specific installations that accommodate animal behavior and handler safety protocols. Key programs involve habitat enhancement, population control support, and public education infrastructure tied to wildlife management zones. Procurement activity is narrowly focused on specialty trade contracting services, primarily for the assembly, shelter construction, and catwalk installation of wildlife handling facilities. These procurements reflect a reliance on skilled labor for custom-built, non-standard structures that integrate with natural terrain and wildlife logistics. Contracts are typically awarded through competitive solicitation processes, often requiring technical expertise in outdoor structural assembly, animal-safe materials, and compliance with environmental and safety standards for field operations. The agency’s procurement patterns are dominated by NAICS 238990, indicating a consistent demand for niche specialty trade contractors capable of executing complex, low-volume construction tasks in remote or ecologically sensitive areas. There is no evidence of set-aside preferences or targeted diversity initiatives in available data. Vendor relationships appear to be project-specific, favoring contractors with demonstrated experience in wildlife facility construction rather than broad-based service providers. Organized under the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, this district operates as a field-level unit with localized responsibility for wildlife management infrastructure in its designated region. It utilizes standard federal and state procurement vehicles for construction services, relying on direct solicitations for specialized work rather than blanket purchase agreements or indefinite-delivery contracts. Its operational scope is geographically confined but functionally critical to statewide conservation efforts.
