What does Mt. Meigs Campus do?

The Mt. Meigs Campus, operating under the Alabama Department of Corrections, focuses on maintaining and modernizing critical infrastructure within its correctional facilities to ensure operational safety, functionality, and compliance with state standards. Its core mission centers on facility integrity, with strategic priorities directed toward physical plant upkeep, inmate environment improvements, and long-term asset sustainability. Key programs include structural renovations, security-enhancing hardware upgrades, and facility-wide maintenance initiatives that support daily institutional operations and regulatory requirements. The agency prioritizes durable, code-compliant installations that minimize lifecycle costs and reduce future repair burdens. Procurement activity is concentrated in construction-related services and specialized building components, particularly flooring systems and metal door and window assemblies. Contracts are typically issued as direct solicitations under standard federal procurement frameworks, with no set-asides currently applied. The agency relies on performance-based contracting methods to ensure quality control and adherence to technical specifications for high-traffic, high-security environments. Primary procurement targets include NAICS 238330 for flooring removal and replacement services and NAICS 332321 for the manufacture and installation of metal doors and windows—both critical for facility security, durability, and sanitation. These categories reflect a deliberate focus on industrial-grade materials suited for correctional environments where resistance to damage, ease of cleaning, and structural integrity are paramount. Vendor relationships are transactional and specification-driven, with no evidence of targeted diversity or small business preference programs. The Mt. Meigs Campus is a state-operated correctional facility located in Alabama, functioning as part of the Alabama Department of Corrections. It operates independently without a distinct sub-departmental structure and utilizes standard state procurement vehicles for capital improvement and maintenance projects. All procurements are aligned with institutional safety mandates and infrastructure lifecycle management protocols.
