The Pbs R9 Amd Sat San Diego Support Section, operating under the General Services Administration's Public Buildings Service, is primarily tasked with the acquisition, management, and maintenance of federal real estate and office infrastructure. Its core mission focuses on the lifecycle management of government facilities, ranging from the procurement of nonresidential lease spaces to the execution of complex tenant improvements and structural renovations. Strategic priorities include office reconfigurations, HVAC system upgrades, and the modernization of specialized federal spaces, such as courthouses and agency-specific office build-outs.
Procurement patterns are heavily weighted toward facility operations and capital improvements. The agency frequently procures commercial and institutional building construction services, nonresidential real estate leases, and specialized trade services including painting, electrical work, and building inspection. Contract activities typically involve a mix of design-build projects, site-specific renovations, and long-term leasing agreements to support various federal tenants.
The agency targets industry partners within the real estate and construction sectors, specifically those operating under NAICS codes for nonresidential lessors and building construction. There is a clear preference for small business participation, with frequent use of SBA, 8(a), and SDVOSB set-asides to meet diversity and socio-economic goals.
This office functions as a regional support element of the Public Buildings Service, managing a diverse geographic portfolio that includes facilities in California, Nevada, and territorial locations such as American Samoa. Its operational scope encompasses the coordination of facility alterations and the management of federal property for a variety of tenant agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and the FBI.
