The Police agency of Kenton County, Kentucky, is dedicated to maintaining public safety through the secure handling, storage, and modernization of evidence and forensic infrastructure. Their core mission centers on ensuring the integrity of criminal justice operations by providing compliant, durable, and access-controlled facilities for evidence management. Strategic priorities include upgrading aging evidence storage systems to meet evolving legal and forensic standards, enhancing chain-of-custody protocols, and supporting operational readiness through facility resilience. Key initiatives focus on retrofitting existing structures to accommodate digital evidence storage, climate-controlled evidence rooms, and secure access systems aligned with law enforcement accreditation requirements. Procurement activity is heavily concentrated on commercial and institutional building construction, reflecting a sustained investment in physical infrastructure rather than technology or services. Contracts are typically awarded through competitive solicitation processes, with an emphasis on design-build and renovation projects that align with building codes and law enforcement facility guidelines. The agency relies on standard federal and state procurement vehicles for public works, prioritizing contractors with demonstrated experience in secure facility construction. The primary NAICS category targeted is 236220, indicating a clear focus on the construction and renovation of non-residential buildings used for law enforcement functions. There is no evidence of set-aside preferences or targeted diversity initiatives in current procurement patterns. Vendor relationships appear transactional and project-based, with selection driven by technical capability in institutional construction rather than small business or minority-owned enterprise participation. Operated under the County of Kenton and headquartered in Covington, Kentucky, this agency functions as a local law enforcement unit with jurisdictional authority over the county. It utilizes traditional public works procurement structures, including competitive sealed bids and negotiated contracts for construction services, and relies on county-level administrative oversight for compliance and fiscal accountability.
