What does Tourism do?

The Tourism office of Wayne County, NY, dedicated to promoting regional economic vitality through visitor engagement, prioritizes the production and distribution of high-quality promotional materials that showcase local attractions, events, and hospitality resources. Its core mission centers on enhancing Wayne County’s visibility as a destination by delivering accessible, visually compelling, and culturally resonant visitor guides and informational content. Strategic priorities include sustaining year-round tourism appeal, supporting local businesses through targeted outreach, and ensuring public access to accurate, up-to-date travel resources. Key programs focus on seasonal campaign coordination, multichannel promotion, and community collaboration to drive sustainable tourism growth. Procurement activity is narrowly focused on commercial printing services, primarily for the development of printed visitor guides, brochures, and informational publications. Contracts are typically awarded through competitive solicitation processes under standard government procurement frameworks, with an emphasis on timely delivery, design precision, and durability of printed materials. The agency relies on external vendors with proven expertise in high-volume, color-accurate commercial printing to meet public-facing communication needs. The agency’s primary procurement activity aligns with NAICS 323111—Commercial Printing (except Screen and Books)—reflecting its reliance on traditional print media for public outreach. No set-asides are currently utilized, and vendor selection appears driven by production capability, turnaround time, and design fidelity rather than diversity or socioeconomic preferences. Relationships with printers are transactional and project-based, aligned with annual publication cycles. Located in Lyons, NY, the Tourism office operates under the County of Wayne and serves as the primary conduit for promoting tourism across the county’s municipalities. It functions as a small, mission-driven unit within the county’s broader economic development structure, utilizing standard government contracting vehicles to secure external production services for its public information campaigns.
