Strategic priorities include water resource management, waste and sanitation infrastructure, and the integration of energy-efficient systems such as solar-powered water mixers and irrigation networks. The agency prioritizes long-term resilience by investing in durable, high-performance equipment and services that reduce environmental impact while supporting public use. Procurement patterns reveal a strong emphasis on infrastructure maintenance and environmental services, particularly in irrigation systems, waste collection, and signage. The agency frequently engages in direct solicitations for custom-engineered solutions, including specialized machinery for water management and durable signage for wayfinding and safety. Contracts are typically awarded through competitive bidding without set-asides, indicating a focus on technical capability and cost-effectiveness over socioeconomic preferences. Primary procurement activity targets NAICS categories related to industrial machinery manufacturing, waste collection, and environmental consulting. The agency relies heavily on contractors capable of delivering custom-built irrigation systems, solid waste handling equipment, and environmental compliance services. Vendor relationships are performance-driven, with a preference for firms experienced in public land management, heavy-duty equipment installation, and environmental remediation. Utah State Parks operates under the Utah Department of Natural Resources, managing over 40 state parks and recreation areas across the state. It utilizes standard federal and state procurement vehicles for goods and services, primarily issuing open solicitations for capital improvements, facility maintenance, and environmental services. The agency’s structure supports decentralized operations with centralized procurement oversight to ensure consistency in infrastructure standards and environmental stewardship.
