The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes a maintenance project in San Joaquin County near Lathrop on Route 5 at Post Mile (PM) R15.59 and 17.04. The scope of work is to replace all electronic components of the existing Changeable Message Sign (CMS) Type 500 to CMS Type 800. All these assets are in non-working or poor condition. All proposed work will be within the State Right of Way. The purpose of this project is to replace the CMS elements that are in poor or non-working condition. The project is needed to ensure Caltrans maintains real-time communication with the traveling public regarding roadway and traffic conditions.
