The Waste Water Treatment plant is operating at 50% capacity with respect to the two functional gearboxes required to sustain operations. The only functional gearbox is currently supporting the entire facility and in the event of mechanical failure of the functioning gearbox, the entire plant would be forced to close down. USAMRAA intends to award this contract on a sole source basis with Applied Industrial Technologies in accordance with 6.302-2, Unusual and compelling urgency, 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(2). The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302.
