The U.S. Secret Service plans to negotiate a sole source contract with Knight Armament Company for the procurement of various small arms components and accessories, including 7.62 mm brass jags, Mk11 Mod O match rifles, matched barrels and bolts, SR-25 magazines, cleaning kits, bipod adapters, and SR-16 magazines. The total order includes a diverse quantity of specialized parts with an emphasis on rapid delivery for the SR-16 30-round magazines. The contract award is scheduled for March 28, 2006, reflecting a pressing operational need that justifies the use of the FAR 6.302 authority to bypass full and open competition. Vendors interested in responding to this sole source notice must submit a full capability statement within three days of the synopsis publication, demonstrating their ability to meet the delivery requirements. The government has made clear it will not accept formal solicitations or bear any costs associated with response preparation. The procurement is managed through the Fletc Glynco Procurement Office under the Department of Homeland Security, with designated points of contact available for inquiries.
