The NUWC Division Newport intends to award a sole source fixed price contract to Huestis Machine Corp. for the procurement of 10 replacement shock isolator assemblies for empty HARPOON Cruise Missile Capsules. These assemblies, which utilize guide rails to protect missiles during shock events, must be delivered within 180 days of the award. The government is utilizing SAP and commercial item procedures under FAR Parts 12 and 13 for this acquisition. Huestis Machine Corp. was selected as the sole source because they manufactured the original guide rails and other government furnished material, including doublers and slot inserts. Their existing facilities, equipment, and established manufacturing standards for the guide rail assemblies are expected to ensure a rapid turnaround. While this notice serves as an intent to negotiate with a single source rather than a request for competitive proposals, the government will consider any proposals received by the closing date to determine if a competitive procurement is necessary.
