AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of a single control box, identified by NSN 7R-1660-013360332-SF, to be delivered FOB origin to Honeywell International Inc. in Tempe, Arizona. This acquisition is based on a sole-source intent, meaning the government plans to negotiate exclusively with one approved supplier due to the flight-critical nature of the item and the lack of sufficient or legible technical data to permit full and open competition. Interested parties can express interest or submit quotes prior to award, but the government retains discretion on whether to proceed with a competitive process. The contract emphasizes the necessity for government source approval before the contract can be awarded, highlighting that only already approved sources or those undergoing approval evaluation will be considered. Because the item is critical and previously approved sources have been solicited, new potential suppliers must submit detailed technical information according to the Naval Inventory Control Point (NAVICP) Source Approval Information Brochure. If this documentation is incomplete or missing, offers will be disregarded. Additionally, if source approval cannot be obtained in time, award decisions may continue based on existing fleet support requirements. No drawings are available for the item, and the solicitation was issued under the Department of Defense's Navsup Weapon Systems Support office, with a focus on strict adherence to source approval to ensure flight safety and compliance.
