The Precision Strike Package Flight Console request is an informational solicitation issued by the Air Force Materiel Command to gather industry input on a flight-certified, dual-seat console designed for installation in the cargo compartment of a medium lift cargo aircraft. This console is a critical component of the broader Precision Strike Package, which integrates a modular system including a medium caliber gun and Stand-Off Precision Guided Munitions to enhance aircraft capabilities. The console must accommodate two side-by-side operators, support multi-screen displays, allow integration of various control devices, and meet strict flight certification standards. It should incorporate modern human factors design principles to ensure usability and pilot comfort, and must provide internal space, cooling, and power distribution for operating system hardware such as computers and control boxes. The overall size constraints and organizational-level support requirements are also specified to guide the design and manufacturing process. Respondents are invited to submit concept proposals detailing their ability to meet or exceed the outlined requirements, along with information on their manufacturing experience, production capacity, aircraft modification expertise, software development, and systems engineering capabilities. The submission should also include drawings, concepts, schedules, delivery timelines, and cost estimates, with an assumption of six unit deliveries in the first year starting late 2009. Responses are due by December 30, 2008, with submissions preferred on CD-ROM as well as paper copies, accommodating proprietary information for confidentiality. This request does not represent a solicitation or a commitment to award a contract but is intended solely for gathering information to support future procurement planning.
