NASA/LaRC has a requirement for Hobart Jet-EX 5D Diesel Ground Power Unit.NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Aviation Ground Equipment Corp. HobartGround Power is the only manufacturer of this item, and Aviation Ground Equipment is soledistributor designated to NASA Langley's region. In order to remain compatible with anexisting unit, an additional Hobart unit is required to support the LaRC aircraftinventory and research programs. It would take substantial duplication of resources andtime for another source to provide a similar unit, and this additional expense is notexpected to be recovered through competition.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon 08/02/2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purposeof determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
