The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to award a sole source contract to Vision Technology Halter Marine, Inc. (VT Halter Marine) for the detailed design and construction of the T-AGS 66 Oceanographic Survey ship. This contract involves procuring a modified version of the T-AGS 65 survey ship, with key design changes including an enlarged hull to accommodate an indoor moon pool and additional berthing, a shift in propulsion power from DC to AC, and upgrading existing systems to incorporate current technology and comply with up-to-date regulatory standards. The ship is expected to be delivered by February 2013 and will build on the design and performance characteristics of predecessor ships, specifically the T-AGS 60 and 65, which were also constructed by VT Halter Marine. The selection of VT Halter Marine as the sole source contractor is based on their unique technical knowledge and proprietary data rights related to these types of oceanographic survey ships, making them the only capable firm to fulfil the contract requirements satisfactorily. Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities are encouraged to contact the company directly. The contract aligns with NAICS code 336611, which pertains to shipbuilding and related activities.

The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to award a sole source contract to Vision Technology Halter Marine, Inc. (VT Halter Marine), 900 Bayou Casotte Parkway, Pascagoula, MS 39581 for the detail design and construction of T-AGS 66 Oceanographic Survey ship. The contract will provide for the procurement of a modified T-AGS 65 Oceanographic Survey ship. Planned modifications include increasing the hull design to accommodate an indoor moon pool and additional berthing, modifying propulsion power from DC to AC, and updating existing systems with current technology and to meet current regulatory body requirements. The delivery date for T-AGS 66 is expected to be February 2013. As the sole designer and proprietary technical data rights holder for these ship types, only VT Halter Marine possesses the requisite knowledge and experience to satisfactorily perform the requirements. Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact VT Halter Marine as follows: Rob Mullins at 228-696-6820 or r.mullins@vthm.com. See Numbered Note 22.
