The Department of Defense, specifically the 302nd Maintenance Group at Peterson Air Force Base, awarded contract FA2517-18-Q-6038 to Epilog Corporation for the procurement of two compact and easily transportable laser marking systems. The systems, identified as Epilog Fibermark 24-30 watt Ytterbium Fiber Lasers, are designed to mark or engrave tools and equipment across multiple locations. This procurement aims to improve tool inventory and control by providing superior legibility on small areas and replacing inefficient marking methods such as markers, adhesive tapes that pose foreign object debris risks, and difficult-to-read manual engraving. The total award amount for the procurement is 65,934.00 dollars. Each system is required to include a mobile cart to ensure transportability and must be equipped with two specific lenses, the 160S and the 254S. The contract was finalized on September 5, 2018, under NAICS code 333517, with the primary objective of enhancing the safety and effectiveness of marking a wide variety of materials within the maintenance group.

The following questions posted before the deadline have been answered by the customer. Please see below: Questions: 1. I was reading through the specifications listed with this solicitation.I want to clarify that the customer is expecting 2 lenses with the system which I see listed as the 160S and the 254S, is that correct? Answer: Two lenses is correct. 2. Does the laser come with a mobile cart? I don't see that listed in the request but the need to be mobile is talked about as a plus. Answer: I do require a mobile cart with the system. 302nd Maintenance Group (302 MXG) at Peterson AFB requires two compact, easily transportable laser marking systems for use in multiple locations within the Group. The laser marking systems will be used to mark or engrave tools and equipment. The laser marking systems offer improved legibility on smaller marking areas and improves tool inventory and control. This unit will mark a wider variety of materials safely and effectively, reducing the need to use less efficient marking methods. Such methods include: markers which fade, smear, and wipe off, and expensive-label-maker tape, which can lose adhesion and potentially become FOD, and engraving which is difficult to read.
