This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, RI (NUWCDIVNPT) intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price contract on a sole source basis to Johnson Centrifugal Technology, Saukville, WI. for a procurement of two (2) complete Bearing Housing assemblies and one (1) set of Fasteners. All components are SUBSAFE/MIC Level I. Johnson Centrifugal Technology is the only manufacturer who has NAVSEA approved inspection procedures and is the sole manufacturer of the Bearing Housing assemblies. Since the requirement is for only two assemblies with no anticipated future procurements it is not cost effective to the government for a new supplier to attempt to produce the assemblies. The vendor would have to expend non-recurring engineering costs, tooling costs and first article destructive testing costs in order to produce the forged and cast material as well as add substantial costs in government procedure reviews and labor. The anticipated posting date of solicitation N66604-11-R-2785 is on or about 07-Jun- 2011. The proposed contract action is for materials for which the Government intends to negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) rating of DO-C9 applies. For information on this acquisition please contact Neil Santos at +1 (555) 000-0000 or e-mail at contact@example.gov. Any prospective contractor must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) (http://www.ccr.gov) in order to be eligible for award. Instructions for registering are available at the CCR website. Prospective contractors must also have an active ORCA registration. Instructions for registering are available at https://orca.bpn.gov/.
