AI Contract Overview
The 2022 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF 2022) provides small grant awards between $10,000 and $40,000 to teams of at least two alumni of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs to design and implement projects addressing critical global challenges, with a specific focus on supporting Ukrainian refugees in North Macedonia. Proposals must align with one of three U.S. government priorities: fostering inclusive democracy and rule of law in North Macedonia, advancing its integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions, or strengthening its economic diversification. All project activities must occur outside the United States and its territories, and teams may include alumni from different exchange programs and countries, though U.S. citizens cannot lead applications though they may participate as team members. Applications opened on April 4, 2022, and closed on April 24, 2022, with decisions expected no later than May 5, 2022, and projects must be completed within 12 months of award. Only exchange alumni are eligible to submit applications; organizations such as NGOs, think tanks, or academic institutions may act as implementing partners but cannot apply in their own name. Cost sharing is not required, and while individuals do not need SAM.gov registration, any partnering organization must be registered and committed to non-discrimination and equal opportunity practices across all beneficiary groups.
