The City of Redwood City has enacted amendments to its Zoning Code and Municipal Code to align with the 2023-2031 Housing Element, streamline development review processes, and enhance code clarity and consistency. These updates were implemented through ordinances adopted without a second reading, directly responding to the need for internal alignment with the General Plan, state law, and city policies. The amendments also rescind two prior resolutions related to CEQA Guidelines to eliminate redundancies and ensure regulatory coherence. Concurrently, the City Council approved revisions to the City’s Engineering Standards at its July 13, 2026 hearing, further supporting improved infrastructure and development practices. The changes reflect a strategic effort to reduce bureaucratic barriers, promote housing goals, and maintain up-to-date, accessible regulatory frameworks for residents, staff, and developers.
