23--SOURCES SOUGHT -- Standalone Applique Air Conditioning System for the M1A2 Tank Crew Compartment.

The Army Contracting Command - Warren MI, at the Detroit Arsenal, is conducting market research to identify potential contractor sources for a standalone applique air conditioning system capable of cooling the crew compartment of the M1A2 Abrams tank. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * Air conditioning capability during vehicle operation (Main vehicle engine ON) and during silent watch operation (Main vehicle engine OFF) * Independent electric power source to support air conditioning system operation while the vehicle is in silent watch mode (AGT 1500 engine is in OFF position) ** NOTE: Air conditioning system may not interfere with or diminish power available to other vehicle systems * Independent fuel source * Independent hydraulic source (if the air conditioning system requires a hydraulic source) * Four hour operational capability * With an outside temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit, system is to cool the vehicle crew compartment to between 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit, within 1 to 2 hours * No degradation of vehicle fire control performance, readiness, or operation * Logistically supportable COST PARAMETERS: * Total program cost for 218 tanks may be a limiting factor * Established corporate engineering working relationship with General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) - GDLS has responsibility for maintenance of the USG owned Technical Data Package (TDP) for M1A2 INFORMATION REQUEST AND PROCEDURE: Interested parties are invited to indicate their capabilities by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration videos, and other information related to their experience in the development of Thermal Management Systems.
