The United States Coast Guard's MLC Atlantic plans to issue a purchase order to Fairbanks Morse for an array of diesel engine parts essential to maintaining the USCGC Katmai Bay. The order includes specific components such as various types of RTD elements, multiple sizes and types of shims, cap screws, different bushings and pendulum dampers, fuel oil pumps, gaskets, nuts, washers, flanges, and other related hardware. Notably, quantities range from single units for specialized parts to bulk orders like 128 stainless steel hex nuts and washers. The procurement is based on Fairbanks Morse’s exclusive technical data rights, making them the sole source provider capable of manufacturing the required proprietary components. This acquisition will be conducted under Simplified Acquisition procedures with an estimated total value of $27,239.63, in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The contract will be awarded without competitive bidding due to the proprietary nature of the parts, although the government invites any relevant information within five days of the synopsis publication. The contracting officer responsible for this procurement is Mr. Douglas G. Landau, and the contract reflects compliance with federal guidelines for sole source procurements. The effort supports the continued operational readiness of Coast Guard vessels by ensuring the availability of critical engine components supplied by the only qualified manufacturer.
