This contract involves the procurement of 135 retaining plates for bearings, specifically part number 68A450962-2003, intended for use with F-15 aircraft. The supplies are to be delivered to Barstow, California, with a delivery deadline of June 30, 2008. The anticipated award date was set for June 18, 2007, with the contract directed toward the McDonnell Douglas Corporation in Saint Louis, Missouri. The procurement is being conducted as a limited source solicitation under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1) and FAR 6.302. This sole-source justification is based on the requirement for engineering source approval to maintain part quality, as the approved source possesses unique design capabilities, manufacturing knowledge, and data rights not economically available to the government. Potential alternate sources must undergo a rigorous qualification process approved by the government engineering activity before being considered for award.
