The Air Force has issued a notice under FAR 9.2 announcing the establishment of Qualification Requirements (QRs) for the manufacture of specific bearing items identified by their National Stock Numbers (NSNs), part numbers, and descriptive nouns. This notice serves to inform potential manufacturers that they must undergo a source approval process to be qualified to produce these parts. It does not indicate any imminent purchasing intentions or the availability of drawings or detailed specifications. Interested companies may obtain the Qualification Requirements by submitting a written request directly to the Small Business Office at Tinker Air Force Base, with strict instructions that telephone requests or indirect requests will not be accepted. The items covered under this notice include cylindrical roller bearings and bearing options, specifically NSN 3110-00-346-7168 (PN 4000606) and NSN 3120-01-390-1809 (PN 4078421CLA). This announcement is not a solicitation or request for proposal, and no set aside status or NAICS code is specified. The notice was posted in April 2002 and emphasizes the preliminary nature of the qualification process rather than any immediate procurement activity. The contracting office’s contact details are provided solely for written requests related to qualification documentation.
