The contract announces the intent to establish qualification requirements for the repair of approximately 31 different bearings used in J-69 and J-85 engines. This effort aims to ensure that manufacturers and potential suppliers meet specific standards before they can be considered for repair contracts involving these engine components. Interested parties are instructed to submit relevant information following issuance of the qualification requirements in accordance with FAR 9.202(a)(2). Submissions should be directed to the Department of the Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, with Susan Cockrell as the designated point of contact. The anticipated award date for contracts, contingent upon meeting the qualification criteria, is December 2003. It is important to note that applicants must provide any requested manufacturer information before qualification testing begins. Once a product is submitted for testing, the applicant is generally notified of the test results—pass or fail—within approximately 120 days. This process ensures that only qualified sources are selected for repair work on the specified engine bearings, maintaining quality and reliability for Air Force operations.
