The Ohio Department of Transportation (hereafter referred to as the Department) is seeking bids for dry pavement marking retroreflectivity measurements collected with a 30-meter mobile retroreflectometer unit (MRU), and wet recovery retroreflectivity readings with a handheld retroreflectometer or MRU. The purpose of this project is to perform activities related to acquiring pavement marking retroreflectivity data. Collected retroreflectivity data will provide immediatefeedback to establish pavement marking needs and will aid the Department in the Quality Control/Quality Assurance of pavement markings placed on state highways.

We have contractors who are interested in using the RetroTek-D system and bid for this contract. How can we get our system RetroTek-D approved for use in this Bid ? It meets all the standards required and operating across 23 USA states. | Answer: Submit documentation showing the MRU meets the requirements for an MRU in Section 8. A. 30-meter geometry MRU with the following capabilities:i. Collecting data in accordance with ASTM E 3320.ii. Collecting data at speeds up to the posted speed limit while accounting forhorizontal wander and vertical movement of the host vehicle.iii. Measuring retroreflectivity of pavement markings ranging from 0 to 2000(mcd/m2/lux).iv. Collecting data with an accuracy of ±15% of properly calibrated portableretroreflectometer data.v.
