The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to negotiate a sole source procurement with Geo-Med, the exclusive service-disabled veteran-owned small business distributor of Xenex germ zapping robots. Specifically, the Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center seeks to acquire two Xenex Pulsed Xenon full spectrum UV germ zapping robots to enhance their infection control capabilities. This acquisition is being managed under FAR Part 6.302, which allows the government to limit solicitation to a single source due to the unique nature of the required commercial item. Although this notice does not request competitive quotes, it invites authorized distributors of Xenex products to submit capability statements by February 8, 2018, to demonstrate their qualifications. Respondents must indicate their business category—such as large, small, 8(a), or woman-owned—and ownership status, whether U.S. or foreign owned. Proprietary submissions must be clearly marked, and the government will not pay for information submitted. The notice does not obligate the government to make a purchase and reserves the right to use the responses solely to decide whether to pursue a competitive procurement.
