Cooling System Check Valve ReplacementBattelle Energy Alliance, LLC, as the Management and Operating Contractor for the Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory, is seeking qualified vendors through an Expression of Interest for the design, manufacture, testing, and delivery of four 20-inch, 300-lb tilting-disc check valves. These valves are critical safety components used on the discharge side of high-capacity pumps supporting the Advanced Test Reactor, replacing aging original valves with hydraulic dashpot systems that have become unreliable. The new valves must comply with stringent technical requirements, including compliance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III, Division 1, Class 1, specific material standards, integrated hydraulic dashpot mechanisms, position indication capabilities, and performance specifications regarding flow rate, pressure, temperature, closure timing, and leakage as detailed in INL Specification SPC-71414 (Rev. 0). Interested vendors must demonstrate experience with nuclear-grade valve design and manufacturing, specifically for large-diameter tilting disc valves and dashpot systems, and hold relevant quality certifications and safety compliance documentation. The submission should include company qualifications, testing capabilities, lead times, production capacity, and a high-level cost estimate for four valves. Access to certain controlled specification documents is restricted to verified U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, but vendors may respond without viewing these documents. Selected respondents may be invited to participate in a subsequent Request for Proposal process. Responses are due by July 9, 2026, and must be submitted to Chase Egbert at INL. The procurement process emphasizes confidentiality and proprietary information protection, with the intent to maintain nuclear safety and reliable reactor operation through this vital equipment replacement.
