The California Department of Conservation, Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) has approved two permits for Sentinel Peak Resources to perform rework operations on two wells, Hyla 16 SPNR (API #079-21280) and Rock 12L R (API #079-21268), located in the Arroyo Grande Oil Field in San Luis Obispo County. The scope of work involves cementing an inner casing string to cover casing holes and restore well integrity. The project is estimated to take five days per well, with operations running 10 hours daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. The project is designed to have no surface disturbance and requires no new facilities, as all work will be conducted on existing well pads using existing roadways and infrastructure for electricity, storage, treatment, and transport. Due to the minor nature of the alterations and the use of existing facilities, the project has been granted categorical exemptions under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Classes 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8. The work must comply with Public Resources Code section 3280(b) regarding Health Protection Zone requirements. This regulatory action is focused on maintaining environmental quality and public safety without changing the utilization of the underground resource.
