Mercury switches, mercury in glass thermometers, standard cells and other items containing mercury may be used if they are located so as not to constitute a contamination hazard. If external contamination by metallic mercury occurs or is suspected, the following test may be used to determine whether contamination by metallic mercury exists or whether corrective cleaning measures have been effective. Enclose the equipment in a polyethylene bag or close-fitting airtight container for eight hours at room temperature (70 degrees F minimum).Sample the trapped air and if mercury vapor concentration is 0.01 mg/cu meter or more, the material is mercury contaminated insofar as the requirements of this contract are concerned. These requirements shall be included in any subcontract or purchase order hereunder and the Contractor shall insure SubContractor compliance with these requirements. Technical questions pertaining to these requirements shall be referred to the Procurement Contracting Officer via the cognizant Administrative Contracting Officer. For background, the following information is provided: Mercury is corrosive to gold, silver, nickel, stainless steels, aluminum and copper alloys. Accidental trapping of mercury in a component could cause serious damage to vital parts. Mercury is also toxic if inhaled, ingested, or absorbed through the skin. Solicitation # N0010427RZ058
The Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support is conducting market research through Request for Information N0010427RZ058 to identify qualified sources capable of designing, producing, and delivering piece part components or entire assemblies using additive manufacturing methods. The government is specifically interested in vendors who can produce items such as valves, actuators, and manifolds, as identified in the candidate NIIN list. While contractors may use additive manufacturing or traditional wrought and cast processes, any additive manufactured components must be fully interchangeable with their traditional equivalents and strictly adhere to the baselines established in Project Peculiar Document PPD 802-8436658. All end items must meet mandated quality assurance requirements, including non-destructive testing and specific dimensional tolerances detailed in the technical data packages. This notice is for information gathering only and does not constitute a solicitation or a binding contract. The government is seeking detailed information on vendor facilities, equipment, and certifications such as ISO 9001 and AS9100, as well as past performance with similar military or commercial hardware. Additionally, the agency is requesting industry feedback on objective evaluation criteria for future competitive awards and the structuring of performance-based incentives within Firm-Fixed-Price contracts. Interested vendors must submit their administrative details and capability statements in PDF format to the designated point of contact by October 22, 2026.
