Purpose: The SSP provides a local area network (LAN) to non-LAN interface as well as various input/output (I/O) capabilities. The SSP has connectivity to the IPF through two fiber-optic Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) LANs; one for digital audi o and one for control and status. Using this connectivity, the SSP processes data associated with narrow band performance signal processing equipment. The SSP provides a capability to accept compacted digital audio signals from the data link processor and distribute them within the IPF. The SSP provides the capability to distribute audio to equipment for signal classification and return the classification for analysis. c.
