NASA/LaRC has a requirement for (1) MWIR Detector Array w/ Data Package.NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the item from DRS Technologies.DRS is uniquely qualified to provide this item based on the current detector array thatis in place for NASA's airborne campaign. The current detector was customized overseveral years to meet NASA's detection requirements and has proven to be extremely robustfor NASA's airborne applications. By upgrading to a newer version through DRS, NASA willalready have peripheral equipment in place from the old system that can be used with thenew without having to purchase all new equipment. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon 01/10/2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purposeof determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
