NASA/GRC has a requirement requirement for the fabrication of parts made from 96%aluminum oxide materials to make eight (8) ceramic plug-in units, and four (4) eachceramic base units. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from CoorsTek, Inc., per FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) onlyone source can provide the highly complicated ceramic materials process, as well as tomaintain consistency in the ceramics testing results over time.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:00 p.m. local timeon 8/8/11. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
