59 -- Checkpoint

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source purchase order to Checkpoint Systems, Inc., located in Thorofare, NJ, for the procurement of pre-programmed RFID tags, linking station printer ribbons, and custom RFID labels compatible with the Checkpoint RFID system currently used in the CDC library. The library’s existing equipment incorporates proprietary components manufactured exclusively by Checkpoint, and the company is the only vendor capable of providing the necessary equipment containing the compatible encrypted algorithm required by the system. This sole source action is justified under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6-302-1, which permits procurement from only one responsible source when no other supplies or services satisfy the agency’s needs. The procurement falls under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 335999. Although this notice does not constitute a solicitation or request for competitive proposals, other firms that believe they can provide the full range of required items may submit written statements of interest and capabilities within 15 days from the notice's publication date. Such submissions will be considered solely to determine whether to proceed with a competitive procurement, with the final decision resting exclusively with the Government.
