The contract involves the procurement of 10 units of a specific circuit card assembly (NSN 7R-5998-015238330-YW) to be delivered FOB origin to BAE Systems Information in Ontario, California. This acquisition is being conducted under a notice of intent where the government plans to negotiate exclusively with a single source rather than seeking competitive quotes. Although interested parties can express their interest or submit quotes, the government retains sole discretion to determine whether to pursue a competitive procurement based on the responses received. The government’s decision not to compete is based on a lack of sufficient, accurate, or legible data to acquire the part from sources other than the current supplier. The solicitation, identified as N0038305G009G5122, was posted by the Department of Defense's Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 20, 2008. It is considered a presolicitation, indicating that it is an early notice before the actual contract award. The contract details emphasize that the government's intent is to proceed with negotiations with BAE Systems due to the specialized nature of the supplies and the lack of viable alternative sources. This ensures timely acquisition of the circuit card assembly critical to the government’s operational needs.
