The Department of Defense is conducting a market survey seeking manufacturers and distributors of electronic mounting hardware, including brackets, racks, panels, and enclosures, that comply with the Specialty Metals provision outlined in DFARS 252.225-7014 Alternate 1. Compliance requires that the metals used in fabrication be melted in the United States or in qualifying countries, or that the items be manufactured in a qualifying country. The solicitation covers products classified under Federal Stock Class 59, and interested parties must be willing to demonstrate adherence to current Department of Defense policy concerning the sourcing and composition of specialty metals, which include specific alloy restrictions and definitions for steel, metal alloys, titanium, and zirconium. Eligible qualifying countries include those listed under DFARS 225.872-1 such as Australia, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and others, with some additional countries considered on a purchase-by-purchase basis. This effort aims to identify potential sources capable of meeting these stringent requirements and is not a direct procurement but a preliminary action to assess market capabilities. Points of contact are available for further inquiries, and the survey pertains to items classified under NAICS code 334419, relating to electronic component manufacturing.
