The US Army RDECOM Contracting Center intends to award a sole source contract to Vatell Corporation for the procurement of TG 2000-42 Heat Flux Sensors. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 6.302-2 and FAR Part 13.5, as the sensors were custom designed by the vendor specifically for the agency's engineers, making Vatell Corporation the only responsible source capable of satisfying the requirement. The intended delivery date for the items is January 30, 2010, with the cost determined to be fair and reasonable based on previous similar purchases. Interested parties were given a limited window to demonstrate their capability and provide evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government. Responses were required by December 28, 2009, to be considered for the procurement process. The final decision to proceed with the sole source award or open the requirement to competition remains at the sole discretion of the government.
