The US Army RDECOM Contracting Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, intends to award a sole source contract for the procurement of a TG 2000-42 Heat Flux Sensor and AMP-15B Amplifier. This contract will be awarded to Vatell Corporation, located in Christiansburg, Virginia, under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-2, which allows for other than full and open competition when only one responsible source can meet the agency's needs. Vatell Corporation custom designed the sensor specifically for the engineers of the using activity, and the required delivery date is April 30, 2011. The anticipated cost is considered fair and reasonable based on prices from similar previous purchases. The announcement serves as a solicitation to identify any other interested and capable vendors within five days from the publication date. Responses must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition could be advantageous to the government for future procurements. The government reserves the discretion to decide whether to proceed with the sole source award after reviewing any submissions. This action is conducted under FAR Part 13.5, which allows test programs for certain commercial items, and efforts to solicit other contractors align with FAR Part 5.2 requirements for public notification.
