The Department of State's Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) is holding its third Industry Day event on October 13, 2004, at the Ronald Reagan Building from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event seeks to broaden the pool of firms engaged in providing a wide range of services, equipment, construction, and operations related to embassy facilities worldwide. OBO requires expertise across the building industry spectrum, including real estate services such as brokerage and appraisals, as well as planning, architectural, engineering, interior design, general construction, and maintenance services. Emphasis is placed on the supply of sustainable, high-performance construction materials and building components that incorporate advanced technologies, particularly those designed to resist blast and bio-chemical threats for enhanced security and operational integrity. Firms participating in contracts or pre-qualification processes requiring security clearance must either possess or be able to obtain a facility security clearance. The Department of State offers sponsorship for those selected or pre-qualified firms needing such clearances. Registration for Industry Day is managed by Roomers, Inc., with a deadline of September 17, 2004, and an $85 fee. Interested parties are encouraged to register online or contact the provided registration number. Key contacts for procurement and contract-related queries are Denise A. FEDERAL BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY ANNOUCEMENT The Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), continues to expand the base of firms with which it does business. To that end, OBO will host its third Industry Day on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Ronald Reagan Building. Industry Day hours are: 10:00am - 4:00pm. OBO uses an industry-wide, cross-section of services, equipment, construction and operations for its embassy facilities around the world. The technical expertise that is required runs the gamut of the building industry. Real estate service providers are used in support of acquisitions and disposal actions (including brokerage, marketing and appraisals). Planning, architectural, engineering, interior design and general construction services are used, as well as maintenance services and generator, roof and fire protection systems replacements. We are interested in construction materials and building components that promote sustainability and high performance, and other new technology. There is a growing demand to supply building components and systems that can withstand blast and bio-chemical environmental security and operational compromise. After selection for a contract or after pre-qualification for any contracts that require a security clearance, firms and vendors must have or be able to obtain a facility security clearance. The Department of State will sponsor those selected or pre-qualified firms that do not possess facility clearances. Roomers, Inc. will handle registration on behalf of OBO. Interested parties should register before September 17, 2004. There will be a nominal registration fee of $85. To register, click www.roomersinc.com. For additional information, contact the Industry Day Registration number at +1 (555) 000-0000.
