NASA/JSC requires the procurement of six MIL-STD-1553 Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) express cards to support the International Low Impact Docking System (iLIDS) avionics system. These cards are essential for the control and testing of computers interfacing with the 1553 data bus, specifically for use within the Low Impact Docking System Host Emulator and LIDS Communications Interface Emulator. Because the project software developers have already utilized the DDC Interface, only PCI express cards from Data Device Corporation are compatible with these specially configured systems. The government intends to acquire these commercial items under FAR Part 12. Interested organizations were invited to submit their capabilities and qualifications by September 23, 2011, to determine if the procurement would be conducted on a competitive basis. This award notice, associated with solicitation number NNJ11408550R and NAICS code 334418, specifies that the government maintains sole discretion regarding the competition process and that all responses must be submitted in writing.
