The contract involves the production and delivery of test launch batteries to support the MM III program, with specific adjustments made to the original scope to comply with range safety requirements. The First Article units previously planned have been re-designated as Design Re-Qualification units, with the quantity increased to eight units. This change is necessary because any item that has not been produced for over a year requires design re-qualification. Of these eight units, four will undergo a 60-day wet life test, while the remaining four will be subject to a 120-day wet life test. In addition to these, six units previously categorized as Production Articles are now reclassified as Engineering units, allowing for earlier delivery to meet customer demands. These Engineering units will be produced alongside the re-qualification units. In total, there will be 48 units produced and delivered under this contract. This comprises 42 Production Article units and 6 Engineering units intended for earlier delivery, while the 8 Re-Qualification units will be used exclusively for testing purposes and not delivered. The contract is identified by solicitation number FA8206-13-R-01178 and falls under NAICS code 336419, concerning aircraft parts and accessories manufacturing. The point of contact for the contract is Jocelyn K Nance, reachable via email or phone. The contract aims to ensure the availability and compliance of the replenishment spares for test launch batteries within the MM III system.

Full Description

The synopsis is being amended to change the First Article units to Design Re-Qualification units and to increase the quantity to 8 units. This is due to a clarification in the range safety requirement that indicates if any item has been out of production for more than one year a re-qualification of the design shall be performed. Eight Re-Qualification units are being produced: 4 will be tested to a 60 day wet life test, and 4 will be tested to a 120 day wet life test. Additionally, 6 units are being taken from the Production Articles and re-named to Engineering units; these units will be built the same time as the re-qualification units. This is to allow for earlier delivery to meet customer requirements. The total units produced and delivered will be 48 units: 42 Production Article units and 6 Engineering units. The 8 Re-Qualification units will be built and consumed in testing.
