The Department of Veterans Affairs Great Lakes Acquisition Center plans to enter into a sole source contract with Safepoint, LLC of Sanford, FL, for the procurement and installation of the Safepointe weapon detection system at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL. This contract will cover the system installation and a three-year automated monitoring subscription, offered as a firm fixed price arrangement under the NAICS code 334519. The acquisition is justified under FAR 6.302-1, citing that Safepointe is the only responsible source able to meet the agency’s specific requirements. Safepointe’s AI-based weapon detection system is designed to efficiently screen individuals and their belongings without disrupting facility operations or requiring stationed security personnel, offering a cost-effective alternative to manned detectors. The system provides real-time alert reviews directly to specified police operation devices, enhancing security response capabilities. This notice signals the Government’s intent to negotiate solely with Safepoint but also invites other firms to submit detailed product information and customer references within seven calendar days if they believe they can fulfill the requirements. However, no solicitation documents will be issued, and telephone inquiries will not be entertained. Submissions must be sent to the Contracting Officer at the Milwaukee office, either by mail or fax. While all responses will be evaluated, the decision to proceed with a sole source procurement remains the Government’s discretion. Failure to receive other responses will result in exclusive negotiations with Safepoint, LLC for the contract titled "6350--Weapon Detection System with Subscription Monitoring," with the contracting officer contact being Steven MacDonald.
