The Department of Veterans Affairs, through the Veterans Health Administration's Program Contracting Activity Central, intends to award a sole source contract to Thundercat Technology, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), for the procurement of booms, lights, and integration equipment for the VA Ambulatory Care Center Operating Rooms at the Nebraska Western Iowa Healthcare System. This acquisition falls under NAICS code 339113, which pertains to small businesses with up to 750 employees. The contract is expected to be a firm-fixed-price agreement awarded under the authority of the Veterans First Contracting Program, which prioritizes contracting with SDVOSBs and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs), and complies with relevant VA acquisition regulations and the Federal Acquisition Regulation. The notice highlights that Thundercat Technology is a verified SDVOSB and authorized distributor for the required equipment, justifying the sole source procurement as there may be limited competition available even if the solicitation were unrestricted. Other interested and capable vendors are invited to submit capability statements within ten business days of the notice, though the government retains discretion to proceed without competition. Submissions must include evidence of the ability to fulfill the requirement and, if applicable, authorization from original equipment manufacturers. The overall intent is to leverage Veteran-owned businesses in fulfilling specialized requirements for VA health facilities while complying with regulatory and program mandates.
